SAGAING DIVISION- According to the Defense Forces, the deputy leader of the People’s Defense Force in Tanal village was reportedly shot and killed in an ambush attack.
At around 5:20 p.m. on August 9, the vice leader of Tanal Village, Mr. Zaw Myo Thet (in his forties) was shot by two unknown gunmen. He was shot twice in the head and once in the chest. There were also laceration wounds on his abdomen and arms.
“Ko Thet (Mr. Zaw Myo Thet) went to Pan Village for a social issue and on his return home, he was ambushed at the turn (of the cart lane) in the east of Tanel Village. According to the villagers, both of the gunmen were wearing black clothes and holding guns,” said Ko Zaw Htet of Pale Township Public Administration.
Mr. Zaw Myo Thet’s wallet was reportedly taken away by the two unidentified gunmen.
There was no military council offensive attack and the place was not close to Pyu Saw Htee village, so there is a possibility that this shooting incident was between the revolutionary groups, stated the leader of Pale Township Public Administration.
This could lead to more serious problems if the NUG government fails to reveal the truth and take action about the shootings and killings of the armed defense forces in Pale and other townships, he continued.
It was reported that the defense force members had cremated Deputy Leader Zaw Myo Thet on August 10 morning.
Last August 2, Pyu Saw Htee troops from Innmahti village raided and destroyed 9 houses in Tanal village, burnt down 13 motorbikes, and also looted rice, oil, sesame seeds, and other items. Mr. Myint Thein (50), the leader of Tanel Village was reportedly detained and killed by the junta affiliates Pyu members.
