AYEYARWADDY DIVISION – In Pathein, Ayeyarwaddy Division, when the people who fled away after protesting came back home, the junta’s council reportedly propagated them as members of People’s Defence Force (PDF) who came back to sign the pledge on the newspapers under the junta’s administration.
The people who fled after participating in protests came back to sign the pledge, but the junta council propagated that the members of the People’s Defence Force came back under the junta administration on the July 20 issue of the New Light of Myanmar, the newspaper which is controlled by the junta.
“They are not members of the PDF. They were afraid of being abducted and fled. They now came back to sign the pledge as they can’t afford to stay away,” said the responsible person of the Pathein Urban Guerrilla Force.
The returnees are neither the people who attended the military training nor members of the PDF, he confirmed.
They are just the people who fled away, afraid of being abducted after protesting after the military coup. They are also not prosecuted at the police station, as known from the Urban Guerrilla Force.
