MAGWAY DIVISION – According to the Southern Pauk People’s Security Force (PSF), its members helped the farmers in Pauk Township, Pakokku District, Magway Division as it has been raining since November 14 during the summer paddy harvesting time.
The PSF comrades helped the farmers from Tasu, Lelyar, Letpanhla, Thetkeikyin, Kinsoke and Kinma Villages, in the Southern part of Pauk Township, with the harvesting as water flooded in the paddy fields and the paddy was wet due to the heavy rains.
Mr. Tain Lhwar, the information officer of PSF mentioned that “As it was raining continuously during the harvesting time, the paddy was wet. Only if the farmers are ok, will the rations be sufficient. We are helping the farmers to reduce losses.”
He continued that more than 20 comrades under the lead of Mr. Daung Min from the Southern Pauk Zone 2 camp assisted the farmers in the paddy fields that were flooded.
The cultivation of Sin Thukha rice began in mid-July and now is the harvesting season. Some of the farmers have already harvested their fields and some farmers haven’t harvested yet.
A farmer who has 25 acres of paddy fields mentioned that “the comrades helped us recover our yields in the rain. Almost half of the paddy was lost. But we have to do as much as we can.”
It is reported that it has been raining continuously and the paddy fields on the stream bank are flooded as the flooded water can’t flow to the lower places. Some of the paddy plants were drifted by flooded water. The farmers may face huge losses.
