BAGO DIVISION- Locals reported that the military council torched Taungkhamauk and Maukwin villages in Paungde Township, Thitpoke Village Tract last Sunday (January 14) for refusing the recruitment of new soldiers and members to form a militia group.
On the morning of January 14, Junta troops torched the Maukwin Village and on the same night, they torched and destroyed Taungkhamauk village.
“The war dogs (junta soldiers)opened fire in the afternoon and burnt down the entire village of Maukwin to ashes. At night, they set fire to Taungkhamauk village. The residents of Natyaytwin Village are also fleeing from the war. All the villagers are running for their lives. It is said that the army is unruly because they could not recruit manpower to form Pyu Saw Htee militia groups (in those villages),” said a resident.
The terrorist junta council has been forming militias and recruiting new soldiers throughout the country, including the Bago Division. The recruitment of new soldiers has been carried out since early January.
