BAGO DIVISION – According to local social aid organizations, all the flood relief centers that were opened in Bago Township have been closed.
On the morning of October 15th, the Bago River receded and only 790 cm remained, so the flood-evacuees have returned to their homes and all relief centers have been closed.
“They were ordered to close since yesterday (October 14). There were still some people left in some of the camps, but since they returned home today (October 15), no one is left in the relief camps,” said a member of a social assistance association.
It was reported that as the water receded, the remaining silt in the public areas including schools and hospitals were cleaned up by local social assistance associations, fire marshals, the staff of the department under the junta council and the soldiers of the junta council.
However, the local house owners will have to clean up and repair the flood damages in their houses themselves.
The Bago River flooded for a week from the night of October 7 to October 13. More than 70,000 residents were affected by the floods, and 22 flood relief centers were opened, according to local social aid organizations.
On October 14, all flood victims from 21 flood relief camps returned to their homes. Then on October 15, it is reported that the remaining flood victims at Dakina Thara flood relief camp will return to their homes after receiving the items donated by donors.
It is reported that during the flood, the houses, shops, cars and motorcycles were submerged in the water, causing damage.
