BAGO DIVISION – Locals reported that staff from the Bago Regional Office in front of Bago General Hospital were forced back home as there were rumors of a possible attack with rocket launchers last Friday (June 30).
All staff from the office were sent back home at around 10 a.m. on June 30 and junta troops tightened the security in the area as there were rumors of a possible attack from the resistance forces.
“From noon till evening, junta officers are inspecting thoroughly. A staff member also complained about being sent back home without getting paid their salary and worsening conditions within the office,” stated a local.
After hearing the news (about the possible attack), the junta forces set up posts and are conducting inspections in at least five locations in Bago City using large manpower. It is also said that a police commissioner lives in the Bago Regional Government Office.
“It was 5 or 6 days ago, when there were four bomb blasts in town, since then junta troops started setting up gates in many places and inspecting the passersby again,” continued the local.
On June 19, sound grenades blasted in four places in Bago; one near the Kyauktwinkone intersection and another in front of the Administration office on Salmyaung Road, the third one in front of the bamboo shop (a junta-appointed administrator’s home) near the Pinsi Road Intersection, and the last one on Myo Ukin Road.
