BAGO DIVISION – Following the attacks on junta battalions by revolutionary forces in Shwekyin Township of Bago Division, the junta army had destroyed the public roads, reported the locals.
Revolutionary forces fired five 40mm mortars at the entrance gate of junta battalion 598 in Zalotegyi, Shwekyin Township at 5:30 a.m. on August 20 and the junta terrorists retaliated with two rounds of the same artillery, injuring a civilian.
“Five 40mm shells were fired at the junta gate. Junta casualty is not known yet. Junta forces fired back two 40mm shells. That injured 35 year old Mr. Myo Min Zaw from Shansu Village (old) in the wrist. Revolutionary forces could withdraw unharmed,” stated a revolutionary source.
In addition, junta battalion 598 fired six more rounds of heavy artillery at 8 a.m. on August 20, with two shells landing at Winkan Village (towards Shwekyin) and the other four landing at the village border of to the south west of Shansu Auk Village. However, there luckily were no civilian casualties.
“The junta council had threatened that they will shell the villages if they were attacked and they really did so. Buildings were destroyed and civilians were harmed. The junta forces are really being evil,” said the revolutionary source.
Then at 5:30 p.m. on the same day, junta forces dug out a portion of the road between Chaytawyar Village and Thayetchaung Village in Shwekyin Township using a backhoe, destroying the public road.
