BAGO DIVISION – After 4 days of flooding due to river flooding in Bago, the water level started to recede on October 11th morning, according to local residents.
Since the river flooded on October 7th, on the morning of October 11th, the water level has receded in most parts of the city. Although the water still remains in the low-lying areas, the water has receded in the city center of Bago and possible to travel.
“It’s less raining, the river is flowing, so the water level has gone down. It’s not raining much. It’s relieved. This morning, motorbikes and cars can go in downtown Bago. The low-lying areas are still flooded. For example, Zai South, Zai North, and Kalyani will still be flooded. Because they are low-lying areas, by this evening, there will be less flooding in those areas as well,” said a resident of Bago.
After the Bago River receded, in the flooded Bago city, houses, shops, the roads are left with mud and need to be washed. There are some damages of goods due to flood, mainly in shops and the markets. There is also a lot of damage caused to cars.
According to local residents, 1 person drowned and died during the 4-day flood from October 7th to October 11th in Bago.
