BAGO DIVISION- In the wards within Bago township, administrators also drew lots to join militia service and those being selected were crying, as reported by the locals.
On February 19, in Bago Township, Montine Village, when the military council troops asked the administrators and locals to draw lots to be selected for militia service, about 50 villagers, including the administrator, were selected by chance (drawing lots).
“It is known that people from the Junta army and the junta department supervised and forced the people to draw lots. It is reported that the administrator came home crying after being picked by drawing lots. They do not want to serve in military (Militia group) themselves,” said a local.
Since the end of January, residents of Bago Township have been drawing lots to attend militia training, and village administrators who are unable to raise money for the military council inevitably have to participate in the drawing lots.
It is said that the Military Council troops have not yet put pressure on the locals to join the militia in Bago City (downtown area), but in villages, each village has to provide 20 people to form a militia group.
All over Bago Division, the military council is pressuring the villagers to form a militia group, and since most people do not want to join the militia, they are forced to draw lots, being threatened and paid to serve in militia groups.
