MANDALAY DIVISION – The junta council has deployed junta forces as guard at the entrances and exits of Pyin Oo Lwin since the Operation 1027 has extended to Nawng Hkio Township, according to the residents.
There are reportedly strict security guards at Wetwon outpost, which is the entrance to Pyin Oo Lwin from Nawng Hkio, and the checkpoint near Pyi Chit Pagoda as well as the entrance gates from Mandalay.
“We can still travel peacefully in Pyi Oo Lwin downtown. The soldier guards are stationed at the outskirts of the town,” said a local of Pyin Oo Lwin.
According to a traveler who had come back from Nawng Hkio, the junta council only managed to deploy forces in Wetwon outpost, which is 20-minute drive from Pyin Oo Lwin.
There have been continuous battles in and around Nawng Hkio Township till October 29 morning, and Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Mandalay People’s Defence Force coalition successfully captured the junta force camp in Kyaukkyan Village which is 3 miles from Nawng Hkio Town, as part of Operation 1027.
Nawng Hkio Town is only two-hour drive away from Pyin Oo Lwin.
The three brotherhood alliances (MNDAA, TNLA and AA) have once attacked against Pyin Oo Lwin tollgate and Defence Services Technological Academy (DSTA) in 2019.
