MYANMAR – The Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) and the National Unity Government (NUG) jointly held the 76th Martyr’s Day commemoration ceremony on Wednesday (July 19).
At the 76th Martyr’s Day ceremony, the National Unity Government’s Interim President Duwa Lashi La, The Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw’s Chairman Mr. Aung Kyi Nyunt, and a representative of the National Unity Consultative Council, Mr. Nanda Sit Aung spoke in remembrance.
After that, the family members of the martyr leaders and the representatives of the State Consultative Councils, Federal Councils and the State Administrative Councils delivered commemorative speeches on Martyrs’ Day.
Those who attended the ceremony saluted the martyred leaders who died with General Aung San, the heroes who fought and died for Myanmar’s democracy for ages and all the martyrs who gave their lives during the Spring Revolution.
After that, the PDF battalions/units in war zones under the Ministry of Defence,
broadcast videos saluting on Martyrs’ Day and the representatives of the political parties read messages commemorating the Martyrs’ Day. There was also reading of the messages sent by international organizations which are domestic and abroad. Documentary films on Martyrs’ Day were also shown.
Union Prime Minister Mann Win Khaing Than gave a speech of thanks for the 76th Martyr’s Day ceremony, then the ceremony was concluded .
This year’s Martyrs’ Day will be celebrated under the theme of “Marching forward with the strength of the people for the aspirations of the martyrs”. It urged all the ethnic people to march in solidarity of entire nationalities to reach the new federal democratic union envisioned by the great martyrs.
