MYANMAR- Locals reported that the junta army has distributed propaganda leaflets nationwide to encourage everyone to serve in the military and not to be frightened (to be enlisted).
It was reported that junta propaganda leaflets were spreading in Sagaing, Monywa Township, Mandalay Division, Bago Division, as well as all states/regions, including Nay Pyi Taw, on Sunday (February 18). The military plans to ensure people do not fear the conscription law and do not believe false news spread by the media.
“Junta soldiers brought me the propaganda paper holding a gun. As if I would be shot if I didn’t take it. I had to take the paper from him in fear,” said a resident of Mandalay.
Similarly, this morning in Sagaing Division, Monywa Township, Junta soldiers, policemen, and multi-departmental teams distributed propaganda leaflets.
” I don’t want to serve in the military,” they say. If I’m enlisted, I’m thinking of running away,” said a second-year (Myanmar Language Speciality) student at Monywa University to the media.
It is reported that the military has instructed the Ministry of Education to distribute the propaganda leaflets in schools and universities.
On February 10, the Terrorism Junta Council announced the activation of the Conscription Law.
