SHAN STATE – Ta’ang Political Consultative Council, based in Northern Shan State, urged people not to go out and avoid unnecessary travel at the peak of the war. If one must travel, it is advisable to check the war news and safe routes, as announced on Friday (November 17).
Since “Operation 1027” by the Three Brotherhood Alliance started on October 27, battles continue to intensify in Northern Shan State and the military council is targeting residential areas currently. So, the Ta’ang Political Consultative Council is releasing information and urging for civilian safety.
Among the released information, bomb shelters are advised to be built at one’s home to protect against air strikes or heavy weapons attacks; to be prepared and pack basic food staff and medicine in case of emergency; and to keep a record of the phone numbers of assistance/ volunteer organizations.
In addition, civilians are urged to keep money, phones, and National registration (or) ID cards with them when they need to leave home. They are advised to call the assistance organizations that can help them in case of emergency and conflict-related injuries.
During “Operation 1027” which started in Northern Shan, the Revolutionary Joint Forces attacked and occupied five cities and took control of more than 150 military and militia camps. Ongoing battles across the country have reached the first stage of a “nationwide operation,” announced the information unit of the Three Brotherhood Alliance, on November 17.
