TANINTHARYI DIVISION – A resident from Kywel Minkone Village, Thayetchaung Township who was abducted at a junta security checkpoint two weeks ago is reportedly out-of-reach of his family, according to residents.
The detainee is said to be in his 40s and his full name is Mr. Thee Yin.
He was reportedly abducted on June 14 morning at Oattu Bridge security checkpoint between Thayet Hnakwa Village and Panpyin Village while travelling by car towards Thayetchaung area to pick up IDPs.
A civilian close to his family added that both the person and his car were detained. The news of abduction broke out a day later, no one knew the reason behind his unlawful arrest and the location he was brought to.
After getting abducted, Mr. Thee Yin was said to be kept in a junta base in Thayetchaung and reported to be undergoing physical torture there.
As the detainee is unreachable for the time being, no one is able to confirm the exact information.
Junta forces from Thayetchaung Police Station checkpoint had also abducted Mr. Thet Win, the former village administrator for Kywel Minkone Village during the NLD government term, who is currently operating bus services between Yangon and Dawei, on June 10.
