KAREN STATE – The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Brigade 6 security column and allied forces attacked and captured the junta council’s Hpalu camp in Myawaddy Township, Karen State, and Cobra Column 2 that took part in the battle released photos recording the capture of the camp on Tuesday (March 12) evening.
Bo Saw Win Myint, the commander for Cobra Column 2, informed that Hpalu camp was attacked on March 11 and was captured within minutes.
“Hpalu camp was handled in just five minutes. Stay strong, people,” stated Commander Bo Saw Win Myint.
The photo records of the capture of the camp show Cobra Operation Commander Bo Da Baw and Column 2 Commander Bo Saw Win Myint celebrating with the revolutionary soldiers.
Junta soldiers and subordinate Pyithusit militia reportedly fled into Thailand during the battle.
Karen news sources reported that only a few junta soldiers were deployed at Hpalu camp, joined by Pyithusit militia forces.
The junta council has been stationed at Hpalu camp for 35 years until KNU captured the camp on Monday.
