KACHIN STATE – It has been reported that the junta council troops raided a guest house in Longhkin Village at around 4 a.m. on May 25 and abducted at least five men.
An eyewitness mentioned that a unit of over 30 junta council troops had come and abducted the civilians when they (junta council troops) inspected Uru Sai guest house.
The eyewitness said, “It happened at dawn. I saw that the detainees were taken away with their hands tied. Amongst the detainees, I saw only men. As far as I saw, at least five were abducted.”
A 24-year-old Longhkin local mentioned that the junta council troops inspected the other guests from the guesthouse and also checked their (guests) phones.
“My friends (a couple) stayed at that guest house overnight that night. From what they said, the junta council troops had come to find the members of KIA and PDF. They (junta council troops) also checked the phones and if they found anything suspicious on the phones, they abducted the people,” continued the local.
A 45-year-old local mentioned that he assumed that the junta council troops had come and inspected the guest house due to the informer.
He said, “There were no inspections like this before. They only inspected today. When we saw a lot of commotion in front of the guest house, we wondered what was going on. They were checking in the guest house for a long time.”
He continued that he doesn’t know where the junta council troops have taken the abductees.
The number of the abductees and the identity of them are still under investigation.
The fascist junta troops had abducted at least 30 civilians in Namtein Village, Hpakant Town, on May 16.
