KACHIN STATE-After the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and Kachin People’s Defense Force (KPDF) joint forces launched a battle to seize the military junta council camp stationed at foot of Kathine Mountain (Kasen Bum) in Hpakant Township, on the morning of August 7. A local resident said that nearly five hundred internally displaced people have taken refuge in the monasteries in Seik Mu Village Tract.
“About five hundred people came to the Mhawshan Monastery to and about twenty people at Sein Mya Thukha Monastery,” said a villager of Mhawshan.
In the battle that took place from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on August 7, the military junta troops fired about a hundred times with large weapons from Hpakant Strategic Hill. A resident of said that if this kind of shooting happens again, it will fall inside the villages and innocent people will be harmed and killed.
In 2022, the military junta troops and Shanni National Army on one hand and on the other hand, the PDF joint forces and KIA were fighting so fiercely that the residents of Se zin Village had to flee to the religious buildings in Hpakant.
In July, the military junta troops stationed at Pan Tin Bridge were attacked by KIA and KPDF joint forces.
