KACHIN STATE – It is reported that two sound mines exploded one after the other in Hpakant Town on Tuesday evening (September 12).
An hour after the explosion at 7:00 p.m. near Pantin Bridge on the way out of Hpakant Town, another explosion occurred in Kyauk Wine, stated a local.
“It was probably a warning since the military council set up security at night to read the units used in electric meters. It might be KPDF (Kachin People Defense Force) who is behind this warning attack. Junta troops tried to record the electricity meter reading starting today (September 12). They’ve never done it before,” said the local.
It is also reported that the rear window of a charity group’s vehicle was damaged due to a mine explosion.
After the coup d’état, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and KPDF alliance have been fighting against the junta forces in Hpakant, the town with the highest incidence of robberies, thefts, and (unidentifiable) murders in Kachin State.
