KARENNI STATE – The base of junta infantry battalion (IB) 134 remains the last line of defence for the junta council in Hpasawng but the revolutionary forces still cannot capture it due to the junta council defending it with reinforcements and the battles remain intense, said a Karenni revolution source.
On April 23, Karenni revolutionary coalition attacked the fire station in Hpasawng stationed by terrorist junta soldiers and Comrade La Ban from Bawlakhe People’s Defence Force (PDF) Battalion 1105 fell in battle, honourably sacrificing his life for the country and the people.
“The battle is still ongoing in Hpasawng. The town is not captured yet. It’s because (junta) reinforcements arrived. We don’t know how they arrived. They came spread out from all areas. From what we heard, they have reportedly left for reinforcement since the first week of April. Only the base of IB 134 in upper Hpasawng remains. That is the only junta base left. There is not even a full battalion there. That must be why they sent reinforcements,” said the Karenni revolution source.
It is said that junta soldiers from Division 55, Military Operations Command (MOC) 14 and MOC 6 in Pinlaung Township of Shan State were sent as reinforcements to Hpasawng. There were originally two junta bases in Hpasawng, IB 134 and IB 135 and revolutionary forces have already captured IB 135.
