KARENNI STATE – The Karenni Social Network Groups announced on March 15 that Karenni forces have rescued about 1,000 civilians trapped in the Hpasawng Town where fierce battle is raging.
Those evacuated mostly included monks, novices, children, women and elderly and men of all ages.
After the Karenni joint forces attacked the places of Hpasawng Town where the junta army stationed on February 29, fightings has been raging in the town. The terrorist council conducted aerial counter-bombing and hundreds of civilian homes, including religious buildings were reportedly destroyed in fire.
In addition on March 3, the Karenni Social Network Group Network confirmed that five civilians were killed and twenty others were injured due to an airstrike by the atrocious war council.
“Until now, they are either firing heavy weapons or conducting aerial bombardment,” said an official of the Karenni Social Network Group.
There has been news spreading that the Karenni Joint forces have captured Junta’s battalion 135, one of the two military council bases in Hpasawng, but the Karenni Joint forces have not yet issued an official statement.
“There was a clash at Hpasawng Fire station hill side. The junta army side made air strikes,” said a Karenni military news source.
The Karenni People’s Liberation Army (KPLA) announced on March 9 that 17 guns and ammunition were seized during the attack towards junta troops stationing at the bridge junction and pagoda at Hpasawng Town.
According to the 2020 state government data, there are 393 houses and a population of 3,401 in Hpasawng Town.
