AYEYARWADDY DIVISION – Junta forces brought out around 11 political prisoners from Pyapon Prison in civilian cars, claiming to transfer them to other prisons and family members are worried that they might be murdered on the way, reported Mr. Thaik Tun Oo, a leading committee member of the Political Prisoners Network Myanmar (PPNM).
Junta soldier, police and prison department staff brought out around 11 political prisoners at about 10 a.m. on April 5 to be transferred to Insein Prison and Tharyarwaddy Prison and Mr. Ye Myo Htut, Mr. Banyar Aung, Mr. Min Maung and Mr. Wai Yan Oo (aka) Shwegyi were among them, according to initial investigation results.
“They were taken away in civilian cars. There were police majors and soldiers for security. Family members are worried that they might be murdered on the way using any excuse,” said Mr. Thaik Tun Oo.
He continued that the transferred political prisoners include those who had their sentences increased by six months during the incident on March 31 where political prisoners were beaten up for no reason. In addition, the prison is said to have turned back the visitors on April 5, saying that there was an official trip.
PPNM urgently released the announcement of political prisoners getting transferred from Pyapon Prison as the terrorist junta council usually lawlessly murder the prisoners after bringing them out then announce that they were shot dead for trying to escape.
