SAGAING DIVISION – It is reported that two women, who were in search of edible greens, hit a landmine and passed away in Banmauk Township of Sagaing Division.
Two women, in their 60s from Man In – Min Kone village, went into the nearby forest in search of edible greens, were killed by a landmine, said a local.
“Both of these women were in their 60s. Around 10 a.m., they went in to the nearby forest to pluck leafy greens. Not long after, an explosion was heard. One died on the spot, another one passed away while getting treatment for her injuries,” he recounted.
Ms Tin Mya and Ms Thein Kyi, who were in their 60s, stepped on a landmine and became the casualties from the blast.
Ms Tin Mya, severed her leg from the mine, passed away in the morning of May 18 while under treatment.
Similarly, there had been another war casualty in Pin Hin Khar village of Banmauk Township, on March 30, a civilian motorcyclist trying to get away from the fighting was died of a strayed bullet while a battle was raging between the local People’s Defense Forces and the terrorist junta troops.
