SAGAING DIVISION – The junta army’s military vessels sailing upriver from Mandalay to Bhamo left Myataung jetty of Tigyaing Township on September 15 and opened fire towards the villages along the river bank, resulted injuring a civilian and destroyed many houses of local villagers.
The military council vessels reached jetty at Myataung Village on September 13 and left the place in the morning of September 15 around 6 a.m. The vessels sailed upriver, slowed down the speed and fired 120mm, 60mm artilleries when they reached between Hinthagyisu and Kyaukmaw villages about 8 a.m.
It was reportedly known that eight cows and three pigs in Hinthagyisu Village were killed and many houses were damaged due to the firing from the atrocious junta’s military vessels.
In addition, a local resident from Kyaukmaw Village which is located at the West Bank of Irrawaddy River and opposite side of Hinthagyisu, was also injured by the heavy weapon, but the status of him was not yet known.
“They fired non-stop for an hour, the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) also fired back but their vessels were not damaged. They were firing continuously,” said a PDF of Tigyaing Township.
At present, fascist junta’s vessels are continuing to upstream, and the junta’s battalion 77 and 88 have been providing security in advance from Innywa Jetty at the border of Katha and Tigyaing townships.
The military council have been reinforcing their ground forces, ammunitions and food to Kachin State where the fightings are intense, using both railways and transportation from river. Last August, junta council supplied ammunitions and food to Bhamo Town using nine vessels including a military ship.
