AYEYARWADDY DIVISION – It has been reported that the junta council’s Pyapon District judge has sentenced four young men to death for alleged connection with the killing of a military council supporter in Bogalay Township.
It was said that the district judge sentenced to death: Bogalay residents Mr. Pyae Sone Phyo, Mr. Min Thu Aung, Mr. Zaw Win Tun and Mr. Naing Wai Lin on September 12.
“Thu Zar Aye delivered the order. The children (those who were sentenced) have nothing to do with the case. They are just in their 20s. The case happened last year during Thingyan,” said a resident of Bogalay.
On April 14, 2022, a female supporter of the junta council, Thu Zar Gyi, from Ward No. 6, Bogalay Town, was shot by a gun. Bogalay Township People’s Defence Group immediately released a news report saying that Thu Zar Gyi had been shot and eliminated.
However, after the junta police arrested many young people from the town and four of them, including Mr. Pyae Sone Phyo, were unjustly arrested and charged with murder, abetment and terrorism charges, said the residents. The four young men were sentenced to death by Pyapon District Judge Thu Zar Aye, who said they had committed murder.
“Judges who give unjust orders to the people will one day hit by the curses of the people,” said a member of the revolutionary forces in Ayeyarwaddy Division.
It is reported that currently there are no junta council checkpoints at the exit and entry points of the cities in Ayeyarwaddy Division but the junta soldiers and police are patrolling in cars and motorcycles.
