MON STATE – The village administrator of Netgyi village who was recruiting soldiers under the conscription law in Belin was shot to dead while sitting in a teahouse in the morning after spending the night in the junta battalion, according to the residents.
At 6:30 a.m. on April 18, Tin Nyein, the village administrator of Netgyi village was shot to dead in a teahouse while sitting with the hundred household chiefs under him and asking to recruit people for military.
Tin Nyein, the administrator of Netgyi Village of Belin Township, went to spend the night in the junta battalion every night for fear of being assassinated. He left the junta camp in the morning and worked in the neighborhood administration and military recruitment.
“The administrator of Netgyi village in Belin, Mon State was shot at 6:30 this morning. He was shot 6 times. Many people hated him because he extorted from the people. He used to sleep in the army at night because he is afraid of death. Now this morning he was shot when he left the army to drink tea. Now the army is blocking off the entire village of Netgyi,” said a local resident.
Netgyi Village Administrator Tin Nyein was 59 years old at the time of his death and is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren.
