MON STATE – According to the locals and on the ground sources, a battle between the Military Council and the KNLA allied forces took place in Alu Lay Village, Bilin Township on January 6 at around 9:00 a.m.
The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) allied forces ambushed the military council force of more than 30 troops that came to hide for the military council convoy, according to the news.
According to sources on the ground, the military council retreated after the attack lasted for almost half an hour.
Locals said that during the fighting, 2 workers, Mr. Zayar Min and Ms. Ni Ni Aye, living in the dormitory of the plywood factory in Alu Lay Village, were hit by shrapnel on their heads and arms.
According to locals, one member of the military council was killed during the clash between the two sides, and the KNLA allied force’s casualties are unknown.
As a result of the fighting, the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway was blocked for nearly 2 hours, and by noon, traffic had returned to normal.
Neither the Karen National Union (KNU) nor the military have released anything about the battle between the two sides.
On December 24th, 2 locals were killed and 4 others were injured due to indiscriminate firing by junta forces after a military council convoy was attacked with a mine near Alu Lay Village.
