RAKHINE STATE-The AA announced on April 27 that Muslim groups, whether acting alone or in collaboration with the military junta council, have been continuously attacking the AA, looting and burning houses, and threatening the lives and security of the Rakhine people. Due to these ongoing actions, a curfew has been imposed in the Buthidaung and Maungdaw regions, effective from April 26, from 7 PM to 6 AM.
Residents must strictly comply without fail. If travel is absolutely necessary, residents must inform and obtain permission from the relevant ULA (United League of Arakan) authorities beforehand. The AA also reported that fighting continues daily in the Buthidaung, Maungdaw, Ann, and Thandwe townships due to ongoing conflicts between the AA and the military junta council, particularly intensifying battles around Buthidaung township Sector 15 for complete control.
The Arakan Army stated that it is evident that the military junta council is attempting to provoke religious and ethnic conflicts among different communities within the region. It is doing so by providing military training to Muslims, using them in conflicts, equipping Muslim groups with weapons, and intentionally creating and conducting heinous political undercurrents with the aim of inciting ethnic strife.
