RAKHINE STATE – Mr. Maung Khin Shwe and Mr. Maung Than Myint, two fathers from Saparhtar Village who were rescued by the Arakan Army, said that the terrorist junta council troops that ran away from junta Regional Center 9 in Minbya Township tortured and murdered their sons right in front of them.
The two were taken hostage by said junta forces and later rescued by the Arakan Army.
It is said that the terrorist junta soldiers that ran away from Minbya Regional Center 9 had abducted all civilians they encountered on the road, made them carry baggage, tortured them and killed them.
“Two of my sons, a son and a son in law, were killed. I was also about to get killed the next day. But I escaped my fate because we ran into a cow. Then when I was about to be killed the day after that, we found a cow and a bull in the mountains and I was spared. Instead, they (junta forces) killed the two animals and roasted them. The vanguard soldier told the officer that they got a cow and a bull and asked him what to do with the ten hostages, who to kill first,” Mr. Khin Maung Shwe recounted his experience.
Similarly, Mr. Maung Than Myint who was taken hostage by the junta forces, stated that his son, Mr. Oo Kyaw Win, was murdered by the junta troops. They reportedly had their hands tied in the back in the dark without food then tied up and surrounded by the muzzles of the junta soldiers as they slept and was rescued by the Arakan Army at around 4:30 or 5 a.m.
“My son was also beaten up like me. They beat him up in so many ways right in front of my eyes. I couldn’t bear to watch it. My son just turned 18. His name is Oo Kyaw Win. I had to watch them brutally beat up my son with tears in my eyes. My son also didn’t receive any meal. In such a cold weather in the dark, we were tied up, beaten and dragged along then my son was shot dead,” stated Mr. Maung Than Myint.
Both fathers had requested the Arakan Army to take effective actions against the terrorist junta council that committed the torture and murder.
The junta forces from Minbya Regional Center 9 including Lieutenant Colonel Ye Htut Win that murdered the hostages were reported to have captured dead by the Arakan Army at around 6:30 a.m. on March 8.
