MAGWAY DIVISION – The displaced persons from Meelaungkone Village, an Asho Chin Village in the upper part of Minhla Township stated that they have been struggling for food and shelter and the children are also losing chances to receive an education.
On April 22, the junta forces from IB-88 based in Minhla Township raided the Asho Chin villages such as Meelaungkone, Taungphelar, Chaungthar, Yasone, Yayin Villages and torched Yayin Village for allegedly supporting the PDFs. Due to the junta tortures, more than 110 locals were displaced.
“Since the village was torched, we have no place to return home. While staying in the fields, the cyclone ruined the huts. There are a lot of difficulties. Our children could not go to school this year too,” said the displaced persons.
Nineteen houses, a monastery, and four motorcycles were reportedly burned down in the junta arson attack and the locals have been struggling for food, living in the fields (in the huts) and thus, assistance is needed, stated the IDPs.
