BAGO DIVISION – The junta council has blocked the road leading to Bago Yoma at Minhla – Myo Chaung – Sein Kantlent in Tharyarwaddy District, west of Bago Division.
The junta council is planning to launch an offensive and blocked the road on May 28. “The junta soldiers are not allowing anyone to travel, citing the impending offensive. Gardeners were forced to turn back, and motorcycles are not permitted. They seize every motorcycle and extort around 200,000MMK,” said a resident.
Approximately 30 junta soldiers are stationed at Khar Chin Hill Forest Camp on Bago Yoma, and the junta council troops threaten civilians, confiscate motorcycles, and extort money.
Civilians from the base of Yoma cannot reach Yoma, and the junta forces pressure everyone to leave, threatening to kill them if found. “The junta council has blocked the Yoma Road on the Minhla – Myoet Chaung – Sein Kantlent Road Section. They intend to cut down trees in the forest, and they can do anything since nobody is there,” said an official from Tharyarwaddy District PDF.
On March 2, a junta vehicle attempting to launch an offensive in Bago Yoma fell into a ravine, resulting in the death of three junta members, including one major.
