CHIN STATE – CDF-Matupi announced to the public to avoid traveling on the Matupi-Mindat Road in Chin State, citing risk of intense fightings.
A 120 strong junta column from a junta base in Matupi raided under gunfire the Ramtein (old) Village located below the Matupi-Mindat Road at around 8 a.m. last Tuesday (June 6).
Then at 9 a.m. on that day, CDF-Matupi launched an attack on the junta forces stationed in said village, forcing them to retreat back two miles north of the village and the road has been temporarily closed since then.
The information officer for CDF-Matupi said, “This (junta) column came on foot so they rarely use the motorway. Because they mostly move through the jungles, we are concerned for the safety of the civilians. Battles can begin at any time. We’d like to request the people to follow our instructions and stipulations, the displaced people to remain in IDP camps and to not go outside during the night.”
The battle on June 6 has caused the local residents from Ramtein Village and nearby villages to stay at an IDP camp.
