MANDALAY DIVISION – It is reported that the junta council killed two People’s Defence Force (PDF) soldiers who came to rescue the civilians trapped inside the village while the junta column was raiding Auk Taung Kine Village in Madaya Township.
On February 15 around 5 a.m., two junta groups of around 100 junta forces from Madaya Town and Shwechaung Village in the township invaded Auk Taung Kine Village.
The two PDF soldiers who went to rescue the civilians trapped inside the village during said raid were shot dead by junta forces, reported the information officer of Madaya People’s Defence Organisation (PDO).
“As there were civilians trapped in Auk Taung Kine (Village), the two PDF soldiers were rescuing them and it seems like they ran into junta forces and were shot dead,” said the information officer.
He added that four handmade guns were lost alongside the two fallen PDF soldiers and that they were given a proper burial.
In addition, residents reported that the junta column torched and destroyed three houses in Saukchopauk Village and seven houses in Hinthakone Village.
The junta forces that came up in two ships from Mandalay harbour also torched and destroyed five houses in Daungkyun Village, ten houses, a bean field and several farmer huts in Dingakyun Village on February 16, according to Wetlet Information Network.
Madaya Township is a region of strong revolution influence in Mandalay Division and the junta council has been committing mass arson of civilian houses and mass murder of civilians.
