Last Tuesday (February 27), two civilians were killed and one was injured due to the military council’s arbitrary firing at the downtown of Kalay Township, Sagaing, where the fighting was intense.
It is reported that the victims were shot indiscriminately by the military council forces who were roaming around in military vehicles on General Road in Kalay Township.
Fighting between the People’s Defense Forces and the Military Council forces also took place in the vicinity as well as in the Kalay downtown area, and this week up to 7 civilians have been killed due to heavy weapons fire by the Military Council forces.
On February 26, the Kalay District People’s Defense Forces told the public to flee the town as soon as possible as the military operations in the area around Kalay Town would intensify.
Residents are concerned that more fighting will happen, and some have already fled to nearby areas.
