MANDALAY DIVISION – It was known that the soldiers, police, all the administration staff and the employees from other government departments recited Uppatasanti sutta with the theme “for the whole world to be peaceful” at Shwetheindaw Pagoda in Kyaukse Township, Mandalay Division on January 9, to avert the impending event or misfortune following the astrologer’s advice.
It was known that on January 9, deputy head of section Taikgyi Aung from the General Administration Department, Kyaukse Township, army officers, police officers and the staff from other departments have to recite Uppatasanti sutta with the theme “for the whole world to be peaceful” for 27 days.
“They were seen performing an astrological ritual to avert the impending event or misfortune following the astrologer’s advice at Shwetheindaw Pagoda in Kyaukse. Today (January 9) was the opening ceremony. Many staff from different government departments along with the soldiers and policemen were seen attending the ceremony. The trustees of the pagoda were forced to attend the meeting and given direct command by deputy head of section Taikgyi Aung himself. Currently, the expense for the event was used from the money donated to the pagoda. The money will be paid back next fiscal year,” as said by the information source of the government departments.
It was instructed that reciting Uppatasanti sutta to avert the impending event or misfortune following the astrologer’s advice will have to be performed in all the townships in Mandalay for 27 days.
