MANDALAY DIVISION – According to the local residents, a traffic police officer in a mufti riding motorcycle was shot dead in Aungmyaytharzan Township, Mandalay.
It was known that two unidentified men fired three shots at the traffic police officer who was riding on a scoopy motorcycle from east to west along the 26th street, between 63rd street and 62nd street, on the evening of July 1.
Due to the shooting, a lance corporal from the traffic police force under junta council was killed on the spot.
A local said, “The place where the incident occurred is near the No. 3 Police Station. The traffic police always check the pedestrians at the corner of 26th street and 66th street. I think he was coming back from that place. After the shooting, the junta council troops came in military vehicles and checked the pedestrians. They carried back the dead body by ambulance.”
It is yet confirmed which group carried out the shooting. The guerilla forces haven’t issued any statement regarding the shooting.
