KARENNI STATE – According to a news release by Karenni Central Intelligence Support Unit, 18 soldiers from the junta council’s BP-13 camp in Mae Se, a border town between Karenni State and Thailand, where the junta light infantry battalion (LIB) 430, the last strategic military base, was stationed, surrendered with full weapons and chose to stand with the anti-junta public.
It is reported that Karenni joint forces seized the junta base where LIB 430 was stationed at around 5:00 a.m. on Friday (June 23).
Khu Nyae Ye, a spokesperson from the Karenni armed forces said that 18 out of 21 junta soldiers at the camp surrendered while three officers are missing.
Mae Sae Myoma Police Station in Mae Se, Karenni State and Mat Ta Nwe camp and Taung Hla camp with BP-14, 15 and 16 bases in the Thai-Myanmar border area were said to have been raided by 4K, Karenni joint forces on 14th June 2023 and the BP-13 infantry camp on 23rd June.
The report also noted that the junta soldiers launched airstrikes during said raid on the military council base and a member of KA (Karenni Army) armed forces, two KNDF (Karenni Nationalities Defence Force) members and a KNPLF (The Karenni National People’s Liberation Front) member, in total, four Karenni soldiers, fell in battle.
