KAREN STATE- A source close to the Military Council said that the military convoy, carrying Brigadier General San Nyunt Hlaing, (the commander of No. (8) Operation Command Headquarters), was attacked by a landmine in Kama Maung Town, Karen State. It was reported that the junta Commander was seriously injured.
“It is true that he is admitted to the military hospital. His convoy was hit by a landmine in Kama Maung. Other level officials are also injured in that attack,” the military source said.
Brigadier General San Nyunt Hlaing’s convoy was attacked by mines on the night of May 3 near Ko Na Win Monastery in Kama Maung.
It is known that the attack was carried out by joint forces led by the KNLA, but the details are not yet known.
Military affiliates’ Telegram channels reported that Brigadier General San Nyunt Hlaing was injured in a mine attack in Kama Maung.
Brigadier General San Nyunt Hlaing was appointed in August 2023 as the commander of the No. (8) Operation Command Headquarters. The former commander Brigadier General/Colonel Aung Kyaw Lwin, was assigned as the commander of the No. (99) Infantry Division Headquarters and reportedly killed in Northern Shan State during the 1027 operation, in the battle of Panlong Tatical Hill, Mong Koe Region, in November 2023.
No. (8) Operations Command Headquarters is located in Tanintharyi Division, Coastal Regional Military Headquarters, in Dawei.
It is reported that deputy commander is currently commanding the division as Brigadier General San Nyunt Hlaing, the commander of the division, is injured.
