SHAN STATE – Cars traveling to Keng Tung and Mong Hsat are stuck due to battles near Hopong, Mong Pawn, and Loilam. Namsam Town, the junction of Keng Tung and Mong Hsat, is where the cars are waiting as they cannot proceed.
“The cars are stuck at Mong Hsat because they couldn’t go to Taunggyi. The car driver said that they could return if there’s any danger,” said one passenger.
The junta council carried out airstrikes at Nam Vall Kham Village, Nar Yan Region, Mong Pawn Township, where the battles occurred on Wednesday (February 21). They also fired heavy artillery shells, forcing civilians to flee and destroying numerous houses.
The junta troops also blocked the road near Htam Seng Cave, Hopong, and PNO members shot at the car that tried to drive through, injuring two villagers from Pone El Village in the head and hands. They are currently receiving medical treatment at Taunggyi Hospital.
This morning (February 22), battles occurred between PNLA and the junta soldiers & PNO Militia Groups near Mong Pawn Town and to the east of Htam Seng Cave, further blocking the roads.
