SHAN STATE – Shan State Progress Party (SSPP) blocked the entrances and exits of Mong Hsu Township, and the public transports are banned from leaving the town with passengers on board, local residents of Mong Hsu said.
SSPP forces reportedly started to block on February 18 at Wanhai, and also blocked Yaykyawpan near the exit of Mongsam Town.
“No one goes out after 6 p.m. People are afraid since there are rumors that people will be captured in the town. Now it is not allowed to go outside the town, only can come in. There are SSPP gates outside the town. Nobody can go out,” said a resident.
A driver said that they can come into the town but are not allowed to pick up passengers from the town and then leave the town.
“SSPP scrutinized if there are passengers come in to the town, and then not allowed to pick up passengers from town and leave the town. They only allow to carry goods,” he added.
Recently on February 13, SSPP reportedly abducted eight local residents of Panghkan and Parnam villages and have not yet been released.
SSPP spokesman Major Sai Hsu has been contacted to inquire the details information but he did not answer the call.
Last February 15, the SSPP announced on social media in Shan Language that they are recruiting new members.
