MANDALAY DIVISION – Five people from Mogok were reportedly abducted by the junta soldiers and police at around 9:00 p.m. on Thursday (October 5).
The junta soldiers and police based in Mogok came in two cars and abducted four youths and another one respectively from Pannma Ward and Aung Thukha Ward, according to a local man from Pannma Ward.
“The boys were beaten up when they were taken by the junta soldiers. The reason for the abduction is not yet known. They were quite badly beaten. It was so pathetic. No one in the vicinity could let out even a cough sound. The place where they were detained is also still unknown,” he said.
In addition, two males riding a motorcycle and the male riding from behind were banned in Mogok starting from October 1 and arrests are being made.
“There are investigations both in the eastern and western parts of the town. Many people have been abducted by the junta force since October 1 and none of them has been released yet,” said a local woman of Mogok.
Those who were abducted from the eastern part were taken to the junta eastern police station and those from the western part were detained in Kyatpyin junta police station and no one has been released as of October 7 afternoon.
The motorcycles were seized by the junta police and since there were about 10 motorcycles, about 20 people were taken into the police custody.
