KACHIN STATE – According to the locals, a local woman and three children were said to have been injured and one 6-year-old child was killed due to the junta council firing heavy weapons near Htantapin Village and Mohnyin University, Mohnyin Town, Kachin State.
At around 8 a.m. on December 6, a child from a family who went out for a walk was killed and the other family members were injured from the junta heavy artillery blast. Another child was also severely injured and is in life threatening condition.
A local mentioned that “it was known that they (the victims) went out for a walk. The children were more injured. Only three children and a woman who were severely injured were sent to the hospital. Two women who got minor injuries were provided medical treatment and sent home.”
It was known that Myitta Lay Hnyin charity group helped to send the injured people, Ms. Khin San Win and three children, to Mohnyin public hospital. A child died when they arrived at the hospital.
Junta council’s Mohnyin town Artillery Battalion frequently fire heavy weapons towards the civilian zones without ongoing battles. The civilian houses were damaged due to the junta council’s heavy weapon attacks.
The alliance of KIA (Kachin Independence Army) and PDF (People’s Defence Force) attacked and captured the junta council military camp between Nangmun Village and Balu Village, Mohnyin Town, on December 5. Following that, the fascist junta council troops fired the heavy weapons towards the civilian areas.
