KACHIN STATE – The junta council recklessly fired over 20 artillery shells at the southeast of Mohnyin without a battle on August 10 at around 10 a.m.
The junta troops installed heavy artillery equipment at the Mohnyin Government Technical Institute (GTI) and fired them, said a comrade of Mohnyin KPDF.
“They recklessly fired, thinking that PDF comrades were active there since the junta camp was seized at Hpakant. It’s just my opinion, and I can’t confirm their aims,” said a comrade.
The junta council soldiers frequently fired heavy artillery shells at the southeast of Mohnyin, and there were no casualties during that time.
The junta council didn’t conduct any military operations in Mohnyin Township. However, on August 6, KPDF comrades detonated landmines among the junta soldiers who were guarding the agricultural administrative office at the entrance of Belu Town which is about 4 miles away from Mohnyin, killing three junta members.
During these months, clashes frequently occurred in Kachin State, and the junta council also carried out airstrikes.
