SHAN STATE – Locals said that the battles that started in the morning of November 12 in Mobye City, Pekon Township, Southern Shan State have been intense and there are civilian casualties.
Locals said that five people, including a member of a charity association, were killed due to small arms and heavy weapons of the military council during the 2-day battle between the military council and Karenni revolutionary forces.
“The battles are everywhere. Things are worse on the side of Dondu Htan and Sikar. There is also heavy artillery shelling. There are no displaced people yet,” said a female resident.
Among the dead was a member of the Tamoe Tamyay Charity Association, who was reportedly hit by a weapon while rescuing the injured.
“The heavy weapons are being fired from the side of Mobye Dam, Demoso, and Pekon. Jets hovered over the area once last night (November 12),” a resident woman said.
She said that since the middle of the year, the military council army has been stationed at a strategic hill on Setdawyar hill in Mobye, and that there has been heavy weapon fire.
It has been reported that the residents of Mobye have had to flee the war many times, so the majority of the residents are currently struggling to escape the war due to financial constraints.
KNDF President Khun Bi Htoo urged the people to temporarily move to safety because the city-occupation battles may cause damage, but reaffirmed that the tyrant must be eradicated.
