KARENNI STATE – According to local news sources, the junta council bombed the area where the internally displaced people were taking shelter in Mobyeat the border of Shan and Karenni (Kayah) States.
At about 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday (May 23), it is said that a fighter jet intentionally attacked two villages in the western part of Mobye where the refugees lived.
“Ten bombs were dropped. They were dropped on two villages on the western side of Mobye where the IDPs were staying. There was some casualties but because the communication lines are cut off, we will be able to know for sure only if we go down there,” said an official from Mobye Rescue Team.
As there is military tension present not only in Mobye but also in the entire Karenni State, it is important for the residents to stay updated on the military situation and make preparations on what to do and avoid after figuring out what will happen in the future.
“There was no reason for them to bomb those villages. There was no ongoing battle. As far as we know, they were bombed four times by a fighter jet,” said a Mobye PDF soldier. Mobye PDF has appealed to the people of Mobye and refugees to prioritise security and take extra care.
The junta council has been suffering many losses in the entire Karenni region, including Mobye and Pekhon, and has resorted to daily airstrikes in response.
Last month, an IDP camp in the west of Demoso was attacked, killing one man and injuring two others.
Similarly, in the afternoon of April 25, a junta council airstrike targeted the hospital at Song Phway Village in the western part of Pekhon, killing a female IDP.
