KACHIN STATE – The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) reportedly has taken control of Momauk Town, confirmed by a military source.
After capturing Momauk police station, on May 7, the KIA continued to attack the junta bases in Momauk Town, and the terrorist junta army decamped from their bases, as confirmed by military sources.
Another Kachin military source reported that KIA chased and attacked the junta forces in Momauk Town. The junta forces retreated and ran away to Kyan Gin Village, and the town was under the control of KIA, at 6:00 p.m., on May 8.
Light Infantry Battalion – 437 outside of the town only remains, the military source informed.
Since the KIA accelerated its offensive attacks on March 7, it has captured several of the junta’s bases and headquarters in Momauk Township, including the military bases in Dawthponeyan, Kone Law, Myo That, and Nwan Lang.
On May 7, the KIA carried out a targeted offensive on Momauk Town captured the police station, and was able to control the town, on the evening of May 8. They will be able to control the entire township, after attacking and acquiring some remaining camps in the township.
On May 7, the KIA combated and seized some junta’s outposts in Bhamo Township, bordering Momuak Township, some of the junta and militant bases in Waingmaw Town and Mansi police station.
