CENTRAL MYANMAR – Civilians are unable to register their SIM cards as they have lost their ID cards and household lists due to the junta’s arson attack. Telecom companies such as MPT, ATOM, and Ooredoo have informed them to register their SIM cards by May 27, but the civilians are unable to do so due to their losses, according to residents from Myinmu.
“Some civilians ran away when the junta launched an offensive. When their belongings were looted by the junta troops, resulting in the loss of their ID cards. Some have also lost their ID cards, household lists, and other valuable items due to the junta’s arson attack. We don’t know what to do next,” said a resident from Myinmu.
Since April, ATOM has been sending SMS notifications to users to register their SIM cards. However, civilians are unable to register their SIM cards and are worried about the impact on other businesses due to the communication stoppage.
