MYANMAR – The American Embassy announced that they will provide additional aids worth 17 million dollars to respond to damages caused by Cyclone Mocha as humanitarian assistance.
This will be delivered via the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to the allied organizations working in the cyclone affected regions.
The United States had already provided two hundred thousand dollars in aids initially after the storm.
It was mentioned that this was aimed mainly to provide emergency shelters and clean water and to be of help in cleaning the environment and providing rescue equipment.
According to UNOCHA, over 5.4 million people were affected by Cyclone Mocha nationwide, including Rakhine State.
As per local media reports, there is an urgent need for emergency assistance such as shelters and food in Rakhine state, which was affected the most by Cyclone Mocha but the people have yet to receive any help.
It is also said that neither the junta council nor any international organization has come down to collect data on the damages suffered by the storm affected civilians.
The junta council announced that more than one million people are facing difficulties in Rakhine State because of Cyclone Mocha.
