CENTRAL MYANMAR – Locals reported that the junta troops are chasing and shooting any two or more people riding on the same bike in Monywa and Yesagyo Townships.
From June 16 until today (June 18), three bike riders have been killed due to the junta’s shooting, according to the residents of Monywa.
“Two were reportedly killed when junta troops chased and shot three men on a bike the day before. A youth was also shot yesterday (June 17) when he made a turn (near their station). This morning, there was another arbitrary shooting by junta troops at a bike rider in Aung Chan Thar Ward. No news is confirmed yet whether the victim survived or not,” stated a Monywa resident.
Similarly, on the morning of June 16, a bike with a side trawler ridden by two men was chased and shot by junta troops in Yesagyo and the rider was reportedly shot.
“The trawler bike rider Mr. Myo (living at Tikegyi Monastery) and his brother were on the way to their mom’s place when they met the patrolling soldiers. The soldiers ordered them to stop, but they couldn’t slow down quickly and hit the break due to high speed. They eventually stopped but the junta troops shot them for not stopping immediately. Mr. Myo was shot in his chest from the back and his current condition is not known,” said a resident of Yesagyo.
The junta council banned two persons riding the same bike in Pakokku, Yesagyo, and Myaing Townships in Magway Division and most townships in Sagaing Division as their gates and camps were frequently attacked (guerilla attack by men on bikes).
Locals of Myeikhtila Township, Mandalay Division, also reported their transportation difficulties after the junta council restricted two men from riding on the same bike.
