SAGAING DIVISION – Local news sources reported that when around 60 junta troops marched into Lin Po Village in Monywa Township, Sagaing Division on Sunday (July 2) at around 12:00 p.m., they looted ten million MMK worth of locals’ properties and even left written threats.
The junta troops were said to have commandeered two FAW trucks passing through the Monywa-Amyint Road and looted a total of 10 million MMK worth of properties from the locals owned shops in Lin Po Village which included 12 petrol tanks worth six million MMK, cooking oil, one TV, one big battery, footwears, one air cooler and snacks, cold drinks, beer bottles and backpacks from the shops, according to the information from the Monyaw-Amyint Road True News Broadcasting Team.
“It seems the junta forces ran out of their rations. We can only assume that. They took petrol from the petrol shops as well. Almost five villages had fled away,” Mr. Swan Lin Htet, a team member of Monywa-Amyint Road True News Broadcasting Team said.
In addition, the stated junta troops wrote down threats and words to drive a wedge between civilians and revolutionary comrades at a tea shop in the village and returned to their Ma-au gate (camp) at around 4:00 p.m.
Furthermore, those junta troops marched into Nyaung Pin Thar, Lin Po and Lin Pin Wa Villages more than two times in June and committed arsons on the civilian owned tea shops and destroyed the Monywa-Amyint Road with bulldozers.
