SAGAING DIVISION – Four houses from Nyaungpinthar Village, Monywa Township, were said to have been torched by the junta soldiers.
The junta column with about over 30 soldiers came into Nyaungpinthar Village around 1:30 a.m. on June 12 and torched the houses, as said by a local resident.
“The junta dogs (soldiers) came from the Ma U checkpoint at the entrance of Monywa. Currently, the villagers have fled to other villages. Nyaungpinthar is a village with about 70 houses, and this is the first time the village was torched,” said the resident.
Moreover, junta forces also fired both small heavy weapons into the village when they invaded the village, and a woman was hit in the leg. She is currently under treatment.
The junta forces reportedly departed the village around 3:30 p.m. under cover of gunfire and headed to the bus express in Monywa. In addition, it was said that a curfew was imposed in Monywa from that time onward.
